Presidential run Empty Presidential run

Post  Alias Vision Thu Jan 27, 2011 8:51 am

Alright... so here is the deal. I'm going to make another run at CP and this time I actually know what I'm getting into, lol.

So I was wondering if anyone in the party has time on their hands to help me run a campaign? The first time around I had a lot of goodwill and so it was basically enough to approach a few key people. This time, I kind of have to earn everything again.

What I'm looking for is for someone who has a good relationship with other parties (except for Norsefire, I couldn't care less about them), who doesn't mind monkey work (it could come down to mass pms) and who is willing to keep me on my toes. You get to yell at me if you see me slipping.

I also wouldn't mind running some plank ideas with you all provided this place is secure (I never remember if it is).

Tis secure, only masked members can read this forum.

I can definitely do monkey work for you wherever you need it. I have some experience with that, I was really involved in Derek Harland's and Jbdivinus' campaigns o7

Shucks Alias the entire party can help your campaign I think, you have a really decent shot at winning.

Thanks Spencer. I'm of the opinion that it's support like you guys are showing me that wins elections. Partly because it gives the flexibility to really explore various strategies and partly because it grants confidence and makes you sound like you know what you are doing when you approach others (rather than desperate for support). Smile

Some campaign ideas that will get fleshed out...

I want to continue tax reforms towards a VAT centric system. I want to lower some of our protectionism but not at the cost of competitiveness.

I would like a soft cap on military funding. What I mean by that is that I would like to lower the defense budget from last month but with the built in flexibility to increase it based on revenue. The reason is that one of the downsides of VAT taxation is that it is boom or bust... people consume = boom... people save their money = bust. So the soft cap would give the opportunity to do other things and as the month progresses and we see a surplus. we can bump up operations in the military.

I would like to institute a health Canada program. So one (or two) grain companies to start, one food company. Only purpose is to grant free health while supplies last. More details need to be fleshed out, we don't want another MoI fiasco.

I would like to bring back the ministry of immigration. I wonder if an aggressive campaign where we pay workers to come to Canada would work. Something like $20 to come, $20 if stayed one week, $60 if stayed one month for a total of $100. Program starts with successful application for citizenship. Bonuses granted as long as the person stays employed in a Canadian firm and lives in Canada. Tracking to be done by ministry employees.

I know lotteries are illegal but I really would like to see one done. This is trickier though.

So those are some ideas... nothing final. Comments and feedback (or new ideas) welcome.

Well if there is a major eCanadian war income would go up with the vat just at the time when you would need the income to increase the military budget. You may need to prime the pump a bit at the start of a war cycle but you would get a higher revenue return almost immediately. So your plan makes sense to me.

EPIC already started their primaries, so I don't have a chance there. Same with CPP, for some reason I read 12:00 as midnight (which is just a really dumbass thing to do).

I still have a chance with the DAL, MOO and MDP (although I may not be military enough for them, lol). Any contacts you have there, a good word would be welcomed.

UN... they have always been my lucky charm it seems but I'm not going to be able to get a translation done quickly which is going to hurt me.

This is the hard part of the campaign. Wink

What do you mean, by polling?

I have most of tomorrow free... (ie, Tuesday)

Let me know.

Wilhelm.

Random sample... or as random as you can get it by still having representation from the major party as well as those that have no party.

Two questions:
1. If the elections were held today, who would you vote for?
2. In one sentence, can you explain why?

I figure I'm sitting third right now, maybe fourth depending on how much momentum Fram can generate. There has got to be some wiggle room in there but I'm not sure what it is at this stage.

I don't think many people are enthusiastic for returning Fram to the presidency.

Do we have a list of all the declared candidates yet? There is an appalling amount of them

Newest article. A bit of a risk but it was at least fun to write.

You're honestly one of the best Alias, it sucks we don't have the membership right now to boost you to the top of the race, but I'll PM for you as much as I can. And tell us when the polls in the other forums are done, will you?

I just saw that DAL endorsed Aeriala... so there you go.

Shall we place friendly wagers on where I'll end up? Wink

Kronos has Epic and CPP.
Aeriala has MOO and DAL.
Fram has MDP and UN.
I have you guys.

So now the question is, from who do I steal the most votes away... Cool

You can probably catch third place if you campaign hard enough.

You never know. Aeriala never stood a chance until game mechanics through a wrench in the wheel. Which moved him to 2nd place and then the impeachment.

All we need to do is get Spencer back into congress and show him that shiny impeachment button. You know he won't be able to resist a button. Buttons are for pushing.

You most certainly were - a 3rd impeachment proposal, too!
